So what does a $200 digital TV tuner and an “affordable” highly reviewed, properly aligned $40 indoor HDTV antenna get you as of tonight?
KHON-DT (Fox) - No Signal for long stretches, then a muddy 1280×720.
KHON-SD (CW) - No Signal, or choppy image (shown as 480×480 for some strange reason).
KITV-DT (ABC) - Hot and heavy, 1280×720, crystal clear signal. Excellent.
KGMB-DT (CBS) - Freakin’ sweet, 1920×1088 (?) signal. Unfortunately they still don’t carry Letterman in HD. WTF?
KHNL-DT (NBC) - Choppy 1920×1080 signal. Leno in HD, but OMFG still boring as all hell. Conan in HD and occasionally funny.
NBC-WX+ (NBC Weather) - Choppy, but very sharp when strong 704×480 image. A decent fix for fans of The Weather Channel, such as our editor.
KIKU-DT (Indie UHF Throwback) - standard def 704×480 image.
So unless you’re strapped for ways to spend your bling save that $240 for your CW shows on DVD or Blue-Ray or HD DVD or whatever usurps those formats.
