I like animals.
While an 800 lbs. gorilla on my back is a humorous image, I’d rather not treat the gorilla badly by depicting it as an arrogant politician. Call me a bleeding heart if you like, but the inhumane treatment of animals is another of my peeves.
This comes up because right about this time of the year is when escape rabbits will appear in people’s backyards, at least in my neck of the woods.
Either people are forgetting to protect their little friends with proper cages or indoor dwellings, or worse, the novelty of the Easter pet rabbit has worn off and eager kids have begun shrugging off their responsibility to their pets.
It’s one of life’s learning experiences for sure, but if taking care of a pet becomes a burden please consider finding it a good home with someone who has the time and experience to care for the little creatures.
And not one of those “crazy cat lady” types either. I know they’ve got good intentions, but those homes with 200 kitties living in them are not healthy environments for anyone, human or animal.
Getting back to the illustration of an arrogant politician. Perhaps a one ton bag of manure is a less appealing burden.
In an illustration of a gorilla the beast retains warmth, and a soul, which is so unlike some politicians these days.
