We were guessing KHON anchor Joe Moore was saving the “I’ll take a pay cut to keep people on staff” gambit for the 11th hour when it’d be assured he wouldn’t have to follow through with the offer.
After all the posturing by both Moore and KHON’s new owner Montecito Broadcast Group LLC, or SJL Broadcast Group, or whatever the hell the no-office-space-renting business is calling itself these days, the results are the same: 1/3 of KHON staff will be laid off.
Well, not exactly the same since eight managers opted to take the high road and quit their positions rather than fire their colleagues.
Meanwhile, Montecito CEO George Lilly and Joe Moore cash in their fat paychecks. Hey. some things should stay status quo right?
