Duane Chapman: Dog the Newlywed

November 27th, 2005 · 3 Comments · News

Lots of interesting tidbits about Dog the Bounty Hunter in this latest profile, including the wedding plans of Duane and Beth.

[Their] contract, sources said, would bind Chapman and A&E through a fifth season, with an option for a sixth.

Smith and Chapman decline to say how much A&E pays them now, only that “it hasn’t been enough,” Smith said.

“This is hard to admit, but when we started season one we were broke,” Chapman says. “That first season got us even, with a little bit of breathing room, but season two cost us a lot of money.”

Filming disrupts their bail bond business, translating to about a 60-percent drop in revenue that was not offset by their A&E salaries. They’ve had to expand their office space and hire more staff to answer as many as 500 phone calls a day, most from fans wanting to talk to Chapman.

“We are the brokest guys on TV, brother,” Chapman said. “We’re still paying for our last child’s birth.”

They should try writing about television on the internet. Then we’ll talk broke.

this is so hilarious. Half the time when I speak with someone from outside HI they ask me, “Do you know Dog?”

We’ve got a Chinese/Vietnamese ex-pat friend living in Virginia who’s got the same problem.

It’s gotten so bad that he’s started telling people he’s from Texas.

Yes, appearently there’s a big Vietnamese community in the Lone Star state.

    Who knew?

I get asked all the time now that I live in the mainland if that was me that Dog was yelling at on any given episode.

“Keep that @#$%&! haole away from here!”

Some folks assume that is my real nickname, hmm, maybe it is, dayum!
