Meanwhile in Westchester County, New York…
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then count Westchester County Executive Andy Spano among the fans of ABC’s hit television show “Lost.”
The television show’s debut-season promotion — familiar to most fans — features the name of the show in big, capital letters against a stormy sky, with the cast arrayed below on the verge of a dark cliff. Spano’s flier alters the image to leave just Fox/Astorino on the brink.
Inside are now-common attacks by Spano on the record of his challenger, a county legislator from Mount Pleasant. “Some things are BETTER LOST than found,” it concludes.
A spokeswoman for Touchstone Television, which produces “Lost” for ABC, distanced the show from the mailing.
“We just don’t want anybody to think we’re endorsing this candidate — Touchstone or Matthew Fox — because we don’t even know who he is,” said the spokeswoman, who declined to give her name.
“And furthermore Fox doesn’t know where New York is and has never been anywhere near a voting booth. Haunted? Party of Five? Fox knows not of what you speak,” the spokeswoman continued. “Any alleged involvement with politics has nothing to do with Matthew. Like most Hollywood celebrities he’s seen the inside of a voting booth.”
