If there was any doubt, now you know that LOST is science-fiction. We hear you moaning and groaning, “It can’t be science-fiction! That stuff’s for nerds. I can’t even stand Star Trek!”
Yeah, yeah, suck it up button pusher.
Face it, in LOST you’ve been watching some of the finest science-fiction writing of our time. The scifi genre’s been wrapped in slimy space aliens, laser based weaponry and all the other nonsense that make fanboys hot and bothered for too long.
Truly great science-fiction lies in character, known science, and mechanical and industrial worlds. It sure as hell isn’t Ewoks, Vulcans, and Transformers. They might as well be lumped in the genre of fantasy. Admittedly Star Trek did have its thought provoking moments, but how many times did it turn into a Monster Of The Week show? Feh.
Otherwise, it was a real treat seeing Katey Sagal again. She doesn’t get enough work… We’re still wondering what kind of lease we’d have to sign for a place as swank as Casa de Hatch aka The Swan… Does flight 815 breaking in half mean that Desmond slept through a 108 minute cycle? Always with the questions!
