Academy for Creative Media chair is back from down under where he over saw the filming of Superman Returns.
A few students at UH claim that Lee is merely a mouthpiece for the department film program Academy and is never available for consultation citing “diva-like behavior.”
Their suspicions seemed confirmed when the ‘Tiser reported Lee would leave UH. But now this…
Lee gently corrected news reports, including one by The Advertiser, that he is leaving the digital arts school that he helped found two years ago.
Lee said a provision in his contract allows him to continue his work at UH. He will likely split his time between California and Hawai’i.
(UH President) David McClain likened Lee to a rainmaker for the success he’s had in building the school and producing immediate results. He said Lee’s job description is simple: “Continue to make rain.”
Lee said his prolonged absence from Hawai’i was a good opportunity to prove to people that the academy “is more than Chris Lee.”
So to those critial of aspiring toward UH Academy degrees we paraphrase an old Monty Python sketch when we say, “You don’t love Chris Lee? Why don’t you try the UH Academy for Creative Media, it’s not got much Chris Lee in it?”
