Lt. Gov. “Duke” Aiona suggests in a recent letter to UH president David McClain that the campus is better off dry.

Hawai’i is proud of its University athletic teams. These students strive for excellence while maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle. Sponsorship by a vendor whose product is not in line with this healthy lifestyle is inappropriate. Moreover, we do not want to provide our youth with the wrong message that there is a positive connection between athletic excellence and alcohol.

Hmmm… a connection between athletic excellence and alcohol? When we were in college we know there was a positive correlation between failing a mid-term and getting sloppy drunk. Hot , wet, and soon forgotten unprotected sex also connected positively with consuming mass quantities.

Waking up in your own sick after losing two large on a crappy Bows loss is about the only positive connection we can make between drinking and athletics, excellence or not.

$2,000?! Why were you betting FOR the home team? :)
    Actually, I’d rather play dodgeball!

We took the points and paid the price!

Oh, and by two large we meant two large pizzas. You weren’t thinking we condone illegal college gambling, eh?

College football without booze is like BYU without mormons. We’d like to hear where Duke thinks those UH football sponsorship dollars come from.
