Jersey Shore to North Shore: The Stink Breakdown

June 14th, 2004 · No Comments · News

Tonight’s premier of Fox’s new drama “North Shore” will score big with islanders who tune in for a good laugh. Luckily North Shore is a summer series so there are no guarantees it’ll survive into the winter months. Then again, “The O.C.” arrived in a similar fashion.

New Jersey Star-Ledger’s television critic Alan Sepinwall goes easy on the fledgeling series in his review…

>I know imagination in Hollywood is in short supply, but come on. There isn’t a second of “North Shore” that you haven’t seen somewhere else before, and done better, too… [It] doesn’t even have the grace or sense of humor to understand what a bad imitation it is.

Like we said, he went easy on it.

From David Kronke of the Los Angeles Daily News it’s Yes, yes, yes! No!

>North Shore is all about attractive hotel employees who experience much angst over the fact that equally attractive guests are constantly throwing themselves at them.

The Boston Herald’s Sarah Rodman prefers to call it “pleasant piffle.”

>In this fluffy combination of “Hotel” and “The Love Boat,” the employees at the upscale Grand Waimea Hotel interact with one another and the wealthy guests who arrive to escape their busy lives as rock stars, celebrity athletes and millionaire business moguls.

If the reviews are any indication, “North Shore” should bring in a mighty share. Count on it.
